Join us at the Queen Square Simulation Centre for a hands-on course on the operative techniques and nuances of lateral skull base approaches. This one-day course gives neurosurgical and ENT trainees dedicated teaching and simulation on the three core approaches to the lateral skull base, using high-fidelity models.
The morning brings together expert-delivered lectures on lateral skull base pathology and on each approach, followed by a VR case-based discussion. In the afternoon, delegates rotate in small groups through three faculty-supervised practical stations, drilling each approach themselves with high-speed drills and operating microscopes:
- Retrosigmoid approach
- Middle fossa approach
- Translabyrinthine approach
Close faculty supervision leaves time for hands-on practice, discussion and feedback, so that trainees can carry what they learn safely into the operating theatre.
